USB Installation
By installing Psychology on a Disk on a USB drive or other removable device, you
can take it with you and run it on any compatible computer. The program and your
data file both reside on your USB drive and do not need to be installed on the
computer you are using.
1. Choose your installation type
On the first setup screen, choose "I'm installing POAD on a USB or similar removable
device" and click Next:
2. Complete the registration form
Detailed help for registration is available here, but
here are some quick tips:
- The name you enter here will be printed on your Progress Reports, which you will be
giving to your instructor.
- The identification should be unique to you: your student ID, email address, etc. It will
also be printed on the Progress Reports (so, for privacy reasons, we don't recommend using your
Social Security number).
- The POAD serial number is printed on the sheet you received when you purchased
Psychology on a Disk.
- We recommend that you do request email confirmation of your registration. You will need this
information if you ever need to reinstall the program.
Note: if you have already registered, click the "I've already registered"
link and enter the information from your initial registration.
3. Select your USB drive
In this screen, select the USB or other removable drive you wish to use. If your drive is
not already inserted, insert it now and click the
Refresh button.
4. Specify a password (optional)
The record of the exercises you have completed is kept in your student data file. A password
may help you protect your progress data from accidental changes by others. If you would like
to use a password, specify it in this screen; otherwise, leave the two password fields empty.
IMPORTANT: If you use a password, don't forget it! CMS Software
cannot recover lost passwords, and you will be unable to access or print your progress reports.
5. Start installation
On the final screen, simply click Next to install Psychology on a Disk:
When installation is complete, you can start Psychology on a Disk by clicking its icon

on the desktop.
